Lesson 16: Selvages

Leno selvedges

This type of selvedges, also used in shuttleless looms, create cut edges in either side of the fabric. In the construction, a narrow leno weave locks the cut edges along the edge. The tension of leno weave at the edges is adjusted based on the closed or loose weave of the fabric.
