Fashion shows are a special event of considerable importance in the fashion industry. These are used by both retailers and manufacturers to communicate a total fashion story, build image and sell merchandise.
Types of Fashion shows Fashion shows may be
Formal shows: Formal runway shows are held in an area where the audience is seated for the length of the show. Auditoriums, theatres, hotel ballrooms and exhibition centers are typical locations for these shows, which are often held away from the store or showroom.
Informal shows: Informal shows are much easier and less expensive to produce. They may be held in a store selling department, restaurant or showroom and are presented to a smaller audience. Often the audience stands for the show, so the show must be brief.
Trunk shows: Trunk shows are a popular way for manufacturers and designers to communicate with a store's customers. A manufacturer or designer brings all or part of a line into a store. Often a mini-fashion show is given or informal modeling held to show the clothes. Orders are taken by the manufacturer for future delivery to the customer.
Trade shows: Elaborate trade shows are often held during market weeks to give retailers an overview of market offerings and fashion trends. Thousands of retailer buyers may see one of these shows during market.
