Lesson 3 : Functions of Communication

The Information Function

Information is basic to all of the other applied functions of communication. In extension one needs to inform the people about new finding and ideas. Communication is performed in order to pass on information in the form of information, facts, news, stories etc. The getting or giving of information thus underlies all communication. Communication is not going to occur unless someone is acquiring and consuming some information either about himself or his environment.
