Terminology

The following is the common terminology/abbreviations used in television scripts:

VLS: very long shot, LS: long shot, FS: Full shot, WS: Wide shot, MS: Medium shot, MCU: Medium close up, CU: Close up, XCU: Extreme close up, OTS: Over-the-shoulder-shot, Two-shot, three-shot, etc. are used for indicating different shots. SFX: Sound effects, VO: Voice over, SOF: Sound on film, fade up, hold under, segue, mix, etc. are used for sound. Cut, fade in/fade out, dissolve, wipe, super, scroll, roll etc. are used for visual transitions and effects.
