HOME SCEINCE EXTENSION AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT

Lesson 22:Community Development project

The Planning Commission in the first three five year plans outlined the Community Development Programmes as essential. In 1962, the Ministry of Community Development and Cooperation, Govt of India stated the following specific objectives.

To assist each village in having effective specific objectives.
Through these institutions plan and carry out integrated, multiphase family, village and block and district plans for
1. Increasing agricultural production.
2. Improving existing village crafts and industries and also organizing new ones.
3. Providing minimum health services and improving health practices.
4. Providing required educational facilities for children and adult education centers for adult illiterates.
5. Providing recreational facilities and programmes.
6. Improving housing and family living conditions
7. Providing programmes for women and youth.
