Lesson 14 : Leadership
Importance of leadership
The success of any teamwork depends on the quality of its leadership. A strong, efficient leader can convert a struggling organization or group to a successful one. On the other hand if, a leader is weak, it can lower down the efficiency and working spirit of the group. Some of the important functions of a leader are:-
Guidance: A leader’s significant role is to guide and instruct the group. A leader always advices, counsels and takes lead in all activities. A good leader serves as a friend and philosopher to his followers and puts in his best efforts for the all round welfare of his group.
Developing Teamwork: A good leader has a capability of arising a feeling of collectiveness and togetherness in his group members. He works as a captain of the team to resolve the differences among people that could otherwise affect the working of a team.
Maintaining Discipline: In order to achieve any goal, discipline is an important key to success. A leader takes into account that there is no chaos, violation of rules and regulation and destructive activities within the group and at the same time conducts impartial treatment to all his group members. A leader focuses on self discipline.
Boosting Morale: A leader is a motivating force for the group. He builds up the confidence, loyalty and decision of the group.
Represents the Group: Leader acts as a real bridge between the group and the outside world. A leader is a representative of his followers who takes the voice of the group to various authorities. He serves as a natural guardian to each of his member.
In short, it can be said that leadership holds the group intact, disciplined, energetic, full of hope and the most important as a team which works for the welfare of the entire group.
