The objectives are the single most important part of project design. They tell the reader what the designer want to do. Project objectives should
correspond to a core problem,
Define the strategy to overcome the problem, and
Contribute to the achievement of higher-level development goals.
When formulating objectives, keep in mind that objectives should be SMART!!
Specific
Measurable
Achievements
Realistic
Time bound
Each objective should specify the quantity of achievement (e.g., number of beneficiaries, number of new varieties developed), and the quality (e.g., poor rural women/farmers, high-yielding varieties). Objectives should also include an indication of when the objective will be achieved (e.g., in January 2009, three years after the start of the project). The following three words may be kept in mind.
