Lesson 26 : Women in Organized & Unorganized sectors

Contribution and Composition In The Economy

It is clear that unorganised sector and unorganised labour are not the same. Unorganised labour is found not only in the unorganised sector, but also in the organised sector. So estimating the contribution of unorganised labour in both the sectors is difficult. Several organised sectors under the national Income Statistics Incorporate unorganised enterprises and unorganised labour. Moreover, contribution of the household labour to the economy is nowhere computed. It is also difficult in making economically meaningful estimates of their values and the adverse effects it would have on the usefulness of the accounts for policy purposes like unemployment, inflation, etc.
