Lesson 37 : National Policy on Technology for Rural Areas

Introduction

Despite our efforts since Independence for improving the status of our rural population namely reducing poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, providing health services, access to safe drinking water, electricity and infrastructure, a large percentage (27.10%) of our rural population (Source: Planning Commission, GOI) still lives below the poverty line with development indicators that are of grave national concern.
