Taxonomy of Finfish (1+2)

Procedure

·         Form groups consist of four members.

·         Go to nearby freshwater fish landing centre or fish market.

·         Collect information about the fishing place or market.

·         List out what are the crafts used in the areas.

·         List out what are the gears are operated in the area.

·         Collect specimen having various characters.

·         Ask their vernacular name.

·         Get the information about their availability.

·         Using the field identification sheets/ cards identify their common name, scientific name and its family.

·         Check the key character for the family.

·         Store them in the thermocool box.

·         Finally prepare a table and indicate their vernacular name, family, scientific name and common name.
