Visit to State Agriculture Department to study the extension approaches adopted by the organisation
Basically, India is an agricultural country and it serves as the major sector for providing employment opportunities to the rural folks. In India, we have well developed State Agricultural Departments in all the states. Since major food production is centered around agriculture, all the states have a well developed mechanism to undertake extension services in an effective manner. In India, Agriculture Dept. Is the major one that undertakes dynamic extension services as agriculture remains as highly diversified field and the number of stakeholders are many. Several successful extension approaches have been formulated and implemented by the State Agriculture Dept. Hence, a visit to the State Agriculture Dept. will enable the students to learn about the variety of extension approaches adopted and the rationale behind the diverse approaches. Further, under the World Bank assisted National Agricultural Technology Project (NATP), an integrated extension delivery system at district level was envisaged and this has led to the establishment of Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) at district level. A Visit to the State Agricultural Dept. will enable the students to learn the recent developments in extension. During the visit to the State Agriculture Department, the students may be given an exposure on the extension system followed by the Agricultural Department in the dissemination of technologies and how extension programmes are planned for the district. |
