Field study on participation of women in fisheries

Women play an important role in fisheries. Though their role is very limited in marine fishing, they play a significant role in post harvest operations. In fishing, they are involved in artisanal fishing, preparing baits for some gears and mending of nets. Their role in fisheries is not properly recognised and they are often engaged in works that don’t need high levels of skills. In this exercise, let us try to explore the roles played by women in decision making in the occupation (fishery) and family affairs. The data may be collected by contacting key informants in the village.
