Nutrient requirement for prenancy and lactation

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

  • Pregnancy requirements are relevant to last 6 weeks of pregnancy and lactation requirements are relevant to first 2 months of the lactation.
  • During the third month of lactation, the prescribed requirements could be reduced by 25%.
  • The lactation requirements during the first 2 months are approximately twice the requirements for maintenance at the corresponding body weight.
