LEARNING OBJECTIVES

To study the origin and course of the carotid artery in thorax, neck and head region.
To study the blood supply to head , neck and anterior thorax.
To learn carotid sheath structures in the neck.
To study the carotid trifurcation and blood supply to the face.
To study about Rete mirabile cerebri- a capillary network below the base of brain.
To also learn about the blood supply to the various parts of brain by circle of Willis.
It helpsthe clinician to examine and recored arterial pulse in large animals by palpation of external maxillary artery.
It gives better understanding for the surgical approches in face by avoiding the vascular damage.
