CROSS BREEDING

  • Cross breeding is mating of two individuals from different breeds. Various breeds represent tremendous resources of varying genetic material. Cross breeding is done for any one of the following reasons.
    • Complimentarity of different breeds.
    • Cross breeding is done to exploit hybrid vigor or heterosis.
    • Every time, the parental breeds have to be crossed.
  • Wide genetic base for producing synthetics.
