COURSE OVERVIEW

  • This semester main focus is on identification methods viz., ear tagging, tattooing, branding, banding, chain and latest technology like microchip are discussed with practical implications. Ageing in farm animals by observing the structure of the tooth at different stages of growth.Importance of watering methods according to the rearing systems. Various methods used for milking including machine milking. Feeding and grazing management. Role of sanitation in improving the hygienic conditions in a livestock farm. Utilization of solid and liquid wastes generated in the  farm in control/ spreading of diseases. Role of recording keeping for decision making, and economic status can be assessed in a farm.
