Feed records
-
One of the important reasons for lack of profits in keeping a dairy herd is the failure to feed cows in proportion to her milk yield.
-
Keeping record of daily milk production of individual cows makes it possible to give her exact amount of feed necessary.
-
From the amount of concentrate given to the cows daily and copying the amount from the temporary record to monthly record and from the value of the feeds the total expenditure can be assessed. This and together with the quantity and price of roughages the monthly expenditure can be assessed. These records are summarised for 12 months to arrive at total expenditure.
