INTERVIEW

Purpose of the interview

  • To bring the scientist and layman into direct contact, so that both may know each other and their needs.
  • To gather factual, truthful and useful information.
  • To provide chance for the extension worker to observe the behaviour of livestock owners (respondents).
  • To find out the views, reactions, attitudes and beliefs of the respondents towards the development programmes.

Types of Interview

Structured or Standardized

  • Exact questions, wordings and sequence of questions are pre-planned and fixed. There is little liberty for the interviewer in the way of asking questions.
  • Normally well balanced, well planned and carefully prepared schedule is used in structured interviews.

Unstructured or Un-standardized

  • Subject matter, field of enquiry and types of questions are clear-cut in advance, but their order, wording and content are left to the choice of the interviewer.
  • Interviews are more flexible and open, ordinarily no schedule is used.
