INTRODUCTION

• Guinea pig Ileum is a tissue commonly used for demonstration of spasmogenic and spasmolytic activities of compounds. 
• Acetylcholine, histamine and barium chloride produce contractile effect. 
• Atropine, mepyramine and papaverine do not produce any effect of their own but inhibit the responses to acetylcholine, histamine and barium chloride respectively.
