Indications

  • To examine vaginal walls, vaginal contents and cervix

For the diagnosis of

  • Freemartins - short vagina
  • Urovagina - Urine pooling
  • Vaginal tumours - Leiomyoma, sq cell sarcoma, Vaginitis, Perivaginal haematomata, Vaginal tears, adhesions, cervical ring eversion, abscesses, vaginal bleeding and Double cervix

To examine the discharge from cervix

  • During Estrum - External os relaxation with clear thick mucus bulling string
  • During Metoestrum - Red watery discharge (metoestral bleeding)
  • Endometritis, pyometra - Pus type of discharge

DOUCHE CAN AND HEAT DETECTOR

  • Douche can : This instrument is used for douching the vagina in case of vaginitis
  • Heat detector : This instrument measures the changes in the electrical resistance of the vaginal mucus which can be used for determining estrum,The reading of 30-40 ohms indicates estrum.
