ENIVIRONMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL HYGIENE
  • This course is designed to study all aspects of environment, and how to protect it.
  • The definition of environmental education may be put as follows “the process of recognizing values and clarifying concepts in order to develop skills and attitudes necessary to understand and appreciate the inter relatedness of man, his culture and his biophysical surroundings. environmental education also entrails practice in decision making and self formulation of a code of behaviour about issues concerning environment quality”
  • It is as branch of medical science that deals with the effect of living conditions on health, devises measure to prevent the occurrence of diseases and establishes conditions that ensure preservation of health.
  • The course makes everyone an “environmental – literate” and prepares them to tackle all environmental issues.
  • The subject also teaches everyone the basic scientific and social issues with respect to environmental problems.
  • It individuals are environmentally educated, the society and the Government are automatically educated, because the latter two are only an extension of an individual .
  • The basic aim of environmental education has been not be introduce a new subject but a new approach to teaching that cut across different disciplines.
  • Last but not the least, A man without environmental awareness is like a ship without a rudder.
