Coccidiostats

  • They are compound added to animal feed to partially inhibit or delay the development of coccidia, a protozoan parasite that causes scouring and damage to the lining of the small intestines. Coccidiostats are "narrowly" classified as antibiotics by FDA, though they are not used in human medicine.
