16 (B) - MINCING MACHINE

MINCING MACHINE

Aim:
To mince fish meat by mincing machine and measure the power transmission elements of a mincing machine.

Apparatus:
  1. Picked meat
  2. Measuring scale
  3. Outside and inside caliper
  4. Tachometer
  5. Thread (Nylon)
Working principle: The particle size of the picked meat is bigger in size hence, it has to be reduced before using the meat for the preparation of the product. This can be done by using mincer machine. In its working principle the power from the electrical motor (i.e. driving pulley) to the driven pulley is by means of V belt. The driven pulley has a center shaft on which helical gear is fixed at the end. This helical gear rotates meshed helical gear having screw conveyor at the center. The screw conveyor has four pole blades at the end. The screw conveyor cuts and pushes the meat smoothly and delivers it through the sieve plate.

Procedure:
  • Switch on the electrical motor before starting the work.
  • Put the picked meat into the bowl provided on the screw conveyor.
  • Collect the minced meat at the front of the screw conveyor sieve plate.
  • Switch off the machine.
  • Clean the screw conveyor, sieve plate with detergent and water.
Observations: Following observations have to be recorded.

Sl.No. Parameters
1. Horse power of the electrical motor (HP/KW)
2. RPM of the electrical motor (rpm)
3. RPM of the driver pulley (rpm)
4. Diameter of the driver pulley (cm)
