1.2.Basic Concepts of probability - Types of Experiment:
There are two types of experiments, they are:
i) Deterministic experiment
If the same results are obtained when an experiment is repeated under the same conditions, such an experiment is called deterministic experiment. For example, for a perfect gas, PV = constant, provided temperature is constant. The same result will be obtained whenever the experiment is repeated. Thus the results of a deterministic experiment can be predicted with certainty.
ii) Random experiment
The experiment which does not yield the same result when repeated under the same conditions is called random experiment. In such an experiment it is not possible to predict the result in advance with certainty. For example, in tossing of a coin experiment one toss may Yield head and other toss may yield tail. It is not possible in advance to predict the outcome with certainty.
