Adaptations of plankton

Plankton possess a wide variety of floatation mechanisms to lead a planktonic life in the continuously moving surface of the sea water. The mechanisms involved are mainly to keep them float on the surface by reducing the rate of their sinking by increasing the surface of resistance and also by reducing their weights.
