11.1.Industrial PollutionAfter independence, our country embarked on massive industrialization accompanied by, unplanned urbanization , which exerted tremendous pressure on the highly productive and balanced ecosystem. In addition to this, population explosion, transportation, deforestation, wetland reclamation, fossil fuel burning and many other activities are responsible for environmental degradation.
In this chapter, the aquatic pollution in India has been narrated in two distinct sub headings such as pollution in maritime states and pollution in non-maritime states.
