11.4.3.Orissa Coast
This area is characterized by major river outfalls namely, Subarnaekha, Brahmini, Baitarani and Mahanadi. The coastal area is relatively free from industries except a phosphate and distillery industry at Paradeep and chemical and rare earth near Gopalpur. Besides industrial and municipal wastes, the other important potential sources of coastal pollution are ore operations at Gopalpur and Paradeep. Intensive mechanized fishing and wastes from number of aquaculture farms add to coastal pollution.
