14.2.Definition
Integrated Coastal Zone Management is used to describe a “continuous and dynamic process that units government and the community, science and management, sectoral and public interests in preparing and implementing an integrated plan for the protection and development of coastal systems and resources” (GESAMP,1996).
Goal
To improve the quality of life of coastal communities who depend on coastal resources, while maintaining the biological diversity and productivity of coastal ecosystems (GESAMP,1996)
Objectives
To provide sustainable utilization of coastal resources.
