3.1.2 Entrepreneurship

3.1.2 Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is the propensity of mind to take calculated risks with confidence to achieve a pre-determined business objective. In substance, it is the risk-taking ability of the individual, broadly coupled with correct decision-making. An enterprise, ready for the persuit of business and responsive to profit by wayof producing and/or marketing goods and commodities to meet the expanding and diversifying actual and potential needs and demands of the customers is what constitutes the entrepreneurial stuff. In countries like India, a new species of entrepreneurs is desirable because here the economic progress has to be brought about along with social justice. Entrepreneurship in India therefore, has to sub-serve the national objectives. The apparent conflict between social objectives and economic imperatives has to be resolved first by the individual entrepreneur in his own mind and initiate economic growth which includes business development as one of the instruments of attaining the social objectives. A high sense of social responsibility is thus as essential attribute of the emerging entrepreneurship in India.
