This parameter is used in the estimation of yield / recruit (Beverton of Holt model) in fishes. This parameter also goes as an input datum in cohort analysis and in estimation of standing stock biomass of aquatic animals. If ‘M’ and ‘Z’ are estimated, ‘F’ could be estimated by the relation F = Z – M.
