Location of photosynthetic pigments in chloroplast

    • The photosynthetic pigments are located in grana portions of the chloroplast.
    • They are present in the thylakoid membrane or membrane of grana lamella.
    • The membrane of thylakoid is made up of proteins and lipids or the membrane consists of both lipid layer and protein layer.
    • The hydrophilic heads of the chlorophyll molecules remain embedded in the protein layer while lipohilic phytol tail in the lipid layer.
    • The other pigments are thought to be present along with chlorophyll molecules.
