Factors Stimulating Ethylene Biosynthesis

Factors Stimulating Ethylene Biosynthesis

    • Ethylene biosynthesis is known to be stimulated by a number of factors such as IAA, cytokinins, fruit ripening, stress conditions (drought, flooding, chilling exposure to ozone etc.) and mechanical wounding.
    • In all these cases, ethylene biosynthesis is stimulated by induction of ACC synthase. In climacteric fruits, ethylene itself promotes biosynthesis of ethylene by autocatalysis.
