Introduction
Introduction
Strawberry originated from Northern America and belongs to the family Rosaceae. Strawberries are the favoured fruit of people from many nations of the world. This fruit is available in the markets from tropics to the polar zones in both the hemisphere. The strawberry plant, after producing fruits sends out a number of runners on which new plants arise at intervals. A single mother plant in a vigorous condition may produce 5-25 new plants. Mother plants form new crowns and roots produce berries for a number of years, but these are generally inferior to the younger plants formed from the runners. |
