Mughal gardens

    The great Mughal Emperor Babur had high aesthetic sense and was fond of gardens. Garden of Panipet and Aram bagh garden at Agra are still maintained. Mughal gardens are synonymous of formal style of gardening.

    Broadly Mughal gardens can be categorised into two:
    i) Pleasure gardens of kings and queens and
    ii) Tomb garden.
    The former gardens were made with the sole purpose of pleasure of king and Queen and family members whereas the latter gardens were attached to tombs of king or queen for giving peace to soul.
