Value Theory

Values define what is good or bad, right or wrong, moral or immoral in a given society. Thus values are central to a person's mode of conduct, including one's goals in life and the means one adopts to pursue these goals. Value Theory of mate selection suggests that one's values or value system is so important to the individual that one will seek out a marriage partner who shares similar values. Since persons with similar social backgrounds tend to learn and share similar values so they attract.
