Steps involved in integrated curriculum planning

ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF ECCD PROGRAMMES

Steps involved in integrated curriculum planning

  1. Determining a topic of interest and rationale for the children and teachers involved (why is it important or interesting to study this topic?).
  2. Brain storm all the possibilities for concepts and instruction related to the theme.
  3. Organize and categorize curriculum possibilities by developmental areas and subject areas.
  4. Develop a skills list or outcomes for the theme being studied.
  5. Select and plan activities and lessons from those topics generated as possibilities; discuss with children things of their interest related to the topic they want to learn.
  6. Gather and organize resource materials and learning centers; if possible involve children to generate ideas for materials as well as to access materials.
  7. Evaluate the curriculum to get the feedback.
