Ego

It is that portion of mind that is largely conscious and reality oriented. It has information that the child perceives and remembers by using thinking, reasoning and planning.

The Ego follows the reality principle i.e. behaviors must be directed by constraints and demands of external world as well as satisfaction of drives. It involves realistic thinking rather than fantasy.
