Lesson 14 : Functions Of Merchandising Division

Personnel

The personnel (or human services) division is responsible for hiring and training new employees. It is also concerned with providing services to store employees and evaluating them for raises and promotions. The relationship of this division to all divisions is obvious, as capable, well-trained employees are necessary for the profitable operation of any business. In some companies the personnel division is also responsible for supervising salespeople; in other firms this responsibility rests with the operations division.
