Lesson 14 : Functions Of Merchandising Division

Operations

The store Operations division is headed by the store manager or superintendent. This division is responsible for a wide variety of activities including store maintenance and housekeeping, delivery, receiving and marking. Warehousing, workrooms, customer services including sales supervision, store security, and purchasing of supplies. Under the original four-function Mazur Plan, this division also supervised the functions of personnel and training. As stores have expanded in size and number of branches, personnel have become a separate division in most stores.
