Designing Information Material 4(1+3)

Introduction

All these days you have learnt how to design visual and print material. It is also important to know how to design your information for the electronic medium. In this class you will learn how to design the information for the radio and television. Audio-visual media are powerful in transferring information/knowledge to farm men/farm women.

In order to transfer the knowledge one cannot go to radio/TV station and start speaking. You will need a well written and rehearsed script for effective presentation. The script writing for print and broadcast differ. Although they differ the basic philosophy remains the same; to communicate the best way within the given constraints of the medium.

Electronic media is easy for listeners or views to absorb ; a person has to work much harder when reading than when listening or viewing. However, it is still important to write clearly and simply. Writing for the radio is often a neglected aspect. Much importance in radio broadcast is given to the tape and people think that writing does not matter much as long as the tape is good.
