Editing

Instructional Video Production 4(1+3)

Lesson 13: Post-Production

Editing

While the log sheets are being prepared, we need to book editing equipment and hire an efficient editor. We must have a fair idea of how much time we will require to edit the film. Keep in mind the deadline to deliver the film, and plan the edit sessions accordingly. These days, non-linear edit suites (see the chapter on editing) offer us a range of special effects and graphics to complete a production. However, if we are required to use a linear edit suite, we must make sure to have the graphics and a special effects generator to aid us in our production.

In some cases, producers finish a rough cut on a linear edit suite, present the rough cut to the client, and later shift to the non-linear edit suite to complete the video in all respects.
