Lesson 16: LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) Panel / Projectors)

Factors in using LCD projectors

  1. The highest resolution LCD projectors are only worth the money for those who need to project fine details as accurately as possible
  2. While all LCD projectors perform the same fundamental task, there are many different models available, and consumers should know what their projector will be used for before selecting one. LCD projectors are priced based on several factors, especially resolution.
  3. Other factors in considering LCD projectors are portability, computer connectivity, and input options.
  4. LCD projectors with higher resolution weigh more and are therefore less portable.
  5. LCD projectors used to project movies in a home theater should have component video inputs for the best picture quality.
  6. Component video is one of the high-end video interfaces offered on audiovisual equipment today. It supersedes composite video and S-Video by providing greater signal clarity than either, resulting in better picture quality. The component video interface consists of three RCA or coaxial jacks, one green, one red and one blue, requiring three cables. Component video carries visual data only. Audio cables are still required.
