Lesson 3 : Approaches to Photojournalism

Introduction

Any publication that communicates by combing words and pictures is photojournalism. Approaches to photojournalism through wire services, newspapers, news magazines and other magazines follow three principles of communication:

• Respect for accuracy
• Respect for deadlines
• High degree of technical proficiency

Once learned, these principles apply, often with only slight adaptation, to any of a wide range of photographic markets, no matter how specialized.
