Lesson 09 :Electrical Layout and Wiring System, Bye-Laws Related To Electricity

Introduction

Electrical wiring in general refers to insulated conductors used to carry electricity , and associated devices.
Aspects of electrical wiring as used to provide power in buildings and structures, commonly referred to as building wiring. Wiring safety codes are intended to protect people and property from electrical shock and fire hazards. Regulations may be established by city, county, provincial/state or national legislation, usually by adopting a model code (with or without local amendments) produced by a technical standards-setting organization, or by a national standard electrical code.

Wiring:
  1. Electrical wiring is one of the three installations including plumbing, heating and air conditioning.
  2. Electrical wiring powers lights, heating units, and appliances such as refrigerators, ovens and washing machines.

Electricity:

  1. Electricity – is the flow of electrons in a conductor. (Measured in amps.)
  2. Electric Current – the force applied in order to achieve the flow of electrons.
  3. Direct Current – Current flows in one continuous direction. ( E. g. Battery)
  4. Alternating Current – The process of rapidly changing the direction of voltage. ( E.g. Home Circuits)
