Difference In Contemporary And Modern

Contemporary design recognizes and often draws upon the ideas of the past. We must remember that they are still part of the modern style in its broadest interpretation. The term “organic” is often used to distinguish modern design that attempt to break with past tradition. Thus we have variety of ideas represented by the term modern. The primary purpose of modern style is to create beauty in a functional form. In this respect many of the designers are very successful but furniture should be sturdy, durable and well constructed, easy to care, light weight and usually built on slim proportions. It should be designed for modern tastes that lean towards a light, airy and spacious.
