Objective: It is one of the important winter crops of the world. In India it is used only as a vegetable. Sometimes it is also mixed with other vegetables. It contains appreciable quantities of carbohydrates and proteins. The potato is propagated through tubers which are commonly spoken of as seeds. The present chapter will make the students familiar with its importance, production technology, seed production practices and plant protection measures. |
