Dressing

It is the activity that includes personal grooming and maintaining parts of the body which is controlled by neural circuits in the brain. This includes bathroom activities, washing and cleaning the hair, shaving. Successful dressing room design makes the area both functional and comfortable for the performers who may be using it. It should take into account the individual and family needs, budget, aesthetics, safety and functionality.

A separate dressing area is a good way to add luxury and convenience for grooming. It should be provided with storage cabinets and furniture pieces. A dressing area works with the circulation and traffic flow from the bathroom to the bedroom and back again. A dressing area includes all of the necessities from head to foot literally.

Dressing and undressing involve a variety of movements, many of them require conditions quiet different from those best for sleeping.

  • Space sufficient to stand, stretch, turn around, and bend over.
  • Seating to facilitate dealing with hosiery and shoes.
  • Storage for all types of clothing; a minimum of 5 feet of hanging space per person, plus shelf and drawer space.
  • Counter space with a well lighted mirror, combined with a storage area for cosmetics and shaving equipment.
  • A full - length mirror for the overall view, if possible.
  • Lighting, either artificial or natural, that enables one to find things and evaluate the effect
