Wooden wall

There are many reasons for selecting wood as the wall material. It has remarkable strength in relationship to its size and shape. Most notable is its tensile strength; it resists breakage when subjected to bending or pulling forces. Its tensile strength also suits wood to cantilever construction. Wood, further has considerable strength in compression, which makes it useful for vertical posts supporting the house wall. Also, it doesn’t get hot or cold as do metal and masonry. Wood is comparatively inexpensive in cost and it can be maintained over long periods of time. Weather resistant woods like cedar and redwood survive exposure to weather with little upkeep when used for exterior walls, roofs, terraces, etc. wood is liked for its beauty and individuality if not for utility and economy. But wood limitations are that it burns, rots, decays, attacked by insects and may swell, shrink or warp with changes in moisture content. To overcome these limitations, the latest wood based structural material are man -engineered.
