MILKING PRACTICE

• Teats may be, milked crosswise.
• First preference may be given to teats appearing most distented.
• Preferably the forequarters together.
• Hind quarters together.
• The best practice is to milk the highest yielder first in the morning milking and least at the evening milking.
• However, among the milch animals the following order of milking is desirable
  • Heifers 
  • Milk cows
  • Any infected animals in lactation
  • Cows with swellings, lumps, tenderness in udder, sores on the teats or blocked milk channel, suffering from mastitis and produc­ing colostrum pretreated with antibiotics or drugs should be milked at the end of milking operation.
