Advantages

• Covers larger area and population with less cost.
• Single person is enough to complete the project.
• Time saving device compared to other methods of data collection.
• No chance to give hint or clue by the investigator.
• Respondent can start filling the questionnaire according to his own convenience.
• Personal bias can be avoided.

Limitations

• Researcher cannot expect cent percent success of returns.
• Respondents may misunderstand the meaning of some questions.
• It cannot be used for illiterate respondents.
• Respondent may write the answers in his own way and it may lead to difficulty in tabulation and analysis.
